Dr. Abegaz attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, IL. Dr. Abegaz then completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at MedVet Chicago, followed by both a Master of Science degree and an Anesthesia & Analgesia residency at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Abegaz has special interests in the anesthetic management of minimally invasive cardiac procedures, pain management, local regional techniques, and veterinary technician anesthesia education. Her favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is collaboration among colleagues to provide the best possible care for all pets.
When not taking care of her patients, Dr. Teodora Abegaz enjoys traveling, hiking or walking by the lake, trying new restaurants, spending time with her family, or tending to her indoor plant collection.
