Sarah R. B. DeSpain, DVM, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Salt Lake City, where she has been part of the team since 2026.
Dr. DeSpain attended Smith College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with double majors in biochemistry and Spanish. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. During her veterinary education, she also earned a Graduate Certificate in Spanish for the Veterinary Professional from Colorado State University.
Although she enjoys all aspects of emergency veterinary medicine, Dr. DeSpain has particular interests in improving access to veterinary care, addressing language barriers in medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. One of her favorite parts of the veterinary profession is being there for pets and their families during some of their most difficult moments and helping people through the care of their animals.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Sarah DeSpain enjoys skiing, cooking, reading murder mysteries, and watching classic movies with her husband. She also enjoys spending time with her dog and two cats.
